- The Forest Row Film Society will again be taking a prominent part in the annual Forest Row Festival, during the first weekend of October. Celebrating the diversity of the local community, the festival draws on the rich source of arts professionals in the area to create a vibrant few days in this large Sussex village. This year the film society will be screening Herzog's new documentary about Antarctica, Encounters at the End of the World, and Buster Keaton's marvellous Sherlock Jr, with live music by Terry Davies. Special screenings of locally-themed archive films will also be put on, mostly sourced from Screen Archive South East. The program will also include the Pathé newsreel Mac Pays Tribute to Kennedy (1964), made when the prime minister visited Forest Row to unveil the commemorative plaque to president Kennedy. Finally, taking inspiration from The Beaches of Agnes, there will be a moving picture show on a farm cart trundling around the village at dusk, showing some classic cartoons and maybe a few surprises along the way.
