- Chorley is also sad to announce the death of co-founder and former chair John Hughes. Membership secretary Ian Lynch said: "John was the longest continuous member of the committee having joined in only our second season. He was chairman and projectionist for a number of years while we ran on 16mm. He oversaw the move to two parallel projectors which avoided the uncomfortable break between reels and then over to a long-play-device which avoided the not much better switch over between projectors. He still projected when we went digital but was happier to defer to younger folk like me once the finesse of lacing and splicing was no longer required." BFFS extends our sympathies to Chorley Film Society and John's family.
- Screen at Hay are delighted to announced their First Festival of British Cinema. The festival aims to salute some of the great British directors, including Powell, Hitchcock, Roeg and Jarman.
