Scotland
- Film Societies and Community Cinemas converged in Falkirk over Easter weekend for BFFS Scotland's Community Cinema Festival - a mixture of films, training sessions and equipment demonstrations. In addition, entries were invited from various sources for a shorts competition. The final winner was Anthony Baxter's Save our Sands - a plea for the preservation of the natural habitats and beaches around Montrose, Angus. BFFS Block Booking titles Honeydripper and Summer performed exceptionally well with audiences, only to be pipped to the post by Oscar® winning documentary Man on Wire. - Hi-Arts is offering a fully self-contained temporary cinema on long-term loan, rent free. The Screen Machine touring cinema currently seats 102 people and is equipped for 35mm film projection. After several years touring the Highlands and Islands it was most recently used as a temporary cinema while Eden Court Theatre was redeveloped. The cinema could be used to test the market for potential new cinema facilities or to act as a small scale multi-purpose venue. It is being offered to organisations in Scotland for a minimum period of 12 months.
