Peace for a Day

Peace One Day - The Day After Peace
The Peace One Day organisation works to raise awareness through film, music, sport, web and education. You will recall that BFFS supported its founder Jeremy Gilley's film Peace One Day when it was released and many of you screened the film on or near the newly established Peace Day that year.
This year the Peace One Day organisation is launching a campaign to see screenings of Jeremy Gilley’s latest film, The Day After Peace, take place in each of the 192 member states of the United Nations and beyond on Peace Day, Monday 21 September 2009. The Day After Peace documents the entire 10-year journey of how an individual managed to establish Peace Day, and how the day is now being used around the world to save lives
In celebration of their 10th anniversary the campaign is set to manifest as many screenings as possible and be the largest simultaneous screening of a feature film. The idea behind the campaign is simply to raise awareness of the day using the powerful tool of film in raising awareness and inspiring people to act.
Peace One Day would like to invite film societies and community cinemas to represent their country in this global campaign by holding a screening to celebrate Peace Day.
There is no lower or upper limit to the size of your audience, and no restrictions on the type of venue. The film now has subtitles in the six official languages of the UN: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, Russian and Spanish.
If you are interested in holding a screening of the film on Peace Day this year please email the details of your planned screening (including the size of your expected audience) to Screening Coordinator Bridie Woodward bridie.woodward@peaceoneday.org
