Government Outlines Plans for UK's Digital Transition
The Digital Britain report is now available, outlining its strategic vision for ensuring that the UK is at the leading edge of the global digital economy.
The report provides actions and recommendations to promote and protect talent and innovation in the creative industries, to modernise TV and radio frameworks and support local news, as well as information on the digitisation of British cinema.

Bradford win the Unesco City of Film Award
The world's first Unesco City of Film award has unexpectedly gone to Bradford, beating off astonishing competition from Los Angeles, Cannes and Venice.
Last year, BFFS worked with Bradford, City of Film to aid the development of grass roots cinema in and around Bradford and is proud to have contributed to this groundbreaking project.

Tim Bevan announced as the new UK Film Council Chair
Tim Bevan, co-founder and co-chairman of Working Title Films, has been appointed as chairman of the UK Film Council. He will take over from outgoing chief Stewart Till.
Mr. Bevan is an Academy Award-nominated producer and has a hugely impressive list of credits to his name, including Fargo, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Atonement and Frost/Nixon.
The 2009 Showcomotion Young People's Film Festival (25th June- 9th July)
Showcomotion returns for its 11th fun-filled year with a packed programme of special guests, premieres, previews and wonderful films from around the world.
In addition, The Showcomotion Children's Media Conference will take part during the festival from 1 - 3 July 2009 at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield.

Black Screen Heritage Conference
Film London in partnership with Imperial War Museum and Yorkshire Film Archive, supported by Skillset, invite you to attend the Black Screen Heritage Conference on 31st July 2009.
The Black Screen Heritage Conference will be the first event to bring together film archive professionals from across the country to discuss the issues involved in creating accessible collections relating to Black British heritage, share knowledge and create a map of activity in this area.

Film Education Pilot Launch in Sheffield
Screen Yorkshire is working to develop film education and media literacy in line with the strategies laid out in the recently published UK Wide Film Education Strategy Film: 21st Century Literacy. In partnership with the Yorkshire Film Archive, Screen Yorkshire aim to to deliver a Film Education Pilot that will support the ongoing use of regional archive footage.
