Chorley Film Society have renamed themselves to launch their 25th Anniversary year. The group are now known as Chorley Empire Community Cinema, marking the heritage of the building they're based in.

Chorley Little Theatre opened in 1910 under the name ‘The Empire’ and was the town's first electric cinema. Extensive refurbishment work has revealed the original glass sign above the doors (unseen since at least 1960) and the group have incorporated the design into their new logo. The first season under the new name will start in September, exactly one hundred years after films were first shown there. The building will be open for public viewing on the Heritage Open Days on 11th and 12th September.
