Starting and running a film society is a rewarding and enjoyable experience. However, it is harder than you may think; it requires time, patience and determination - and a lot of know-how.

BFFS has provided information, advice and support to film societies for over six decades; our members benefit from the networking with kindred spirits across the UK that only a national organisation can offer.

In addition to assisting and encouraging film societies BFFS is actively involved in educational initiatives, research programmes and training events in conjunction with other national agencies. We have represented the interests of film societies to government and trade organisations for over 60 years.

We believe membership of a national body gives the film society movement a more powerful voice; in addition it allows us to deliver great services and develop special offers that members have asked for. As a member you qualify for access to a wide range of exclusive deals and services, and you have a direct say in how BFFS works to support a movement that continues to grow to the benefit of all communities.
