BFFS South West Group
The South West Group is the largest Regional Group of BFFS. It represents more than 70 film societies and community cinemas across South West England, and engages in direct practical action to develop new community cinemas. The Group is currently following up the successful Film WbySW project to set up new venues in the far west of its region with an initiative to set up a Network for community cinemas in Devon and Cornwall. The RIFE Lottery funded project was launched in October 2010 with a well-attended Open Day at the Torquay Museum.
As well as providing excellent advice and support, the South West Group offers the following services:
- Regional Viewing Sessions (in spring and autumn) showcasing new releases and providing a great opportunity for networking – these are currently being expanded into two-stage events to allow easier access for groups in the far west of the region
- Equipment loan for trial screenings and training demonstrations
- Devon/Cornwall Network – developing and supporting new and established community cinemas in Devon and Cornwall
- A dedicated website
