About BFFS
BFFS is the national organisation for the development, support and representation of film societies throughout the UK Established in 1946, BFFS has successfully weathered the considerable changes in the cinema landscape over seven decades and today stands for the right of all communities to determine their own access to film culture.

To support, sustain and develop the community cinema movement in the UK, and to deliver public value to community cinema audiences throughout the UK
Strategic Objectives
- To preserve, sustain and develop film society culture and its values, as an important element of the cultural heritage of the UK
- To help film societies to start, build and maintain their activities
- To bring the cultural and educational benefits of film to all communities, and to support public education in film culture
- To represent the interests of all organisations engaged in delivering community cinema
- To procure and disseminate accurate information for members on issues of importance or relevance to the community cinema movement
- To provide training and development opportunities for the community cinema movement
- To ensure BFFS is sufficiently resourced and appropriately structured to meet its objectives
What we do
- Provide hands-on support for emerging film societies and community cinemas
- Offer advice and support via our query service covering all aspects of film society operation
- Work with other organisations such as Regional Screen Agencies, bfi on behalf of film societies
- Provide training, conference and networking opportunities
- Publish information and educational material
- Develop member benefits and access to discounts and offers from partners
