South-west group services
- Film South West.

The SW Group issues a brochure at the end of August each year giving contact details for all its member societies and community cinemas as well as information on starting a new screen and of the films selected for block bookings. Contact Regional Secretary Brian Clay on 0117 9620 635 or email briandclay@hotmail.com for a copy.
- Viewing sessions.
The SW Group organises two film preview days in the spring and autumn showcasing new releases and often including block-booking titles. Six films and assorted short films are shown on two screens at each venue giving society organisers a chance to preview films for their next seasons as well as meeting other society members and enjoying some good food. New projection equipment is often also demonstrated.

- Equipment loans and start-ups.
The SW Group has helped many new venues set up their own community cinema project. The best way to get things rolling can be a trial screening and the Group can help by providing the necessary equipment and expertise for the new venture. If you are in the South West region, call Brian Clay or Paul Schilling to discuss your ideas. They can provide advice on equipment and suppliers or assist with a trial screening or equipment loan. Check the website, www.bffssouthwest.org.uk for the latest information and links.
BFFS South West has digital equipment, funded by a UK Film Council grant, at the following bases:

It has not always been easy to help new projects in the far west of our region but help is on the way! The SW Group has received a lottery grant from South West Screen to target venues in Cornwall and West Devon interested in starting showing films in their community. We have received a lot of enquiries already and will be providing hands-on help at an information day at the Old Grammar School in Redruth on Saturday 14th April. If you are interested and have not yet contacted us, phone Chris Baker on 01225 401 149 or 07800 586 379.
