Relevant BFFS strategic objectives
1 To preserve, sustain and develop film society culture and its values, as an important element of the cultural heritage of the UK
3 To bring the cultural and educational benefits of film to all communities, and to support public education in film culture
5 To procure and disseminate accurate information for members on issues of importance or relevance to the community cinema movement
6 To provide training and development opportunities for the community cinema movement
Aims
- An extended ability to talk about film and film issues within the target population*
- A greater capacity to make suitable collaborative programming judgements within the target population
- Enhanced awareness of the business context for film society operation among the target population
- A broader and deeper understanding of cultural history and future potential of the community cinema movement among the target population
- Wider engagement with issues of community cinema within film society movement.
* the target population is the actual and potential national community cinema audience, and the voluntary activists who serve it.
Education programme elements
- Educational events, including national and regional events
- Educational materials, including advice leaflets, education packs and distance learning materials, and programme notes
- Enhancement of the website to achieve greater education provision
