BFFS Educational events

BFFS supports educational events at the national, regional and local levels.

  • National educational events: these have not been possible during BFFS's reorganization, but we recognize that they must figure in our future programmes. Of course, we can make no promises, as there is a funding issue, but watch this space.
  • Regional educational events: almost all events organized by BFFS Regional groups have an educational component, often in the form a specific educational element. For details of BFFS regional events through Autumn 2006 see the Regional Group pages. BFFS has an active programme of funding applications to support regional events, especially events in regions that do not currently have an active Regional group, and any events that are awarded funding will be publicised here.
  • Local educational events: these are almost always organised by individual film societies. Examples include showing a film with the director present, and then discussing it, arranging a viewing of several films by one director, or along a coherent theme, with authoritative introductions, and so on. The production of excellent programme notes can itself be an educational event. BFFS is developing support materials to help film societies mount this kind of event successfully, including case studies.
