BFFS Awards - entering your society for the 2007 awards

All Film Societies and Community Cinemas are invited to submit applications for the BFFS’s prestigious Film Society of the Year Awards. The winners in each of the categories, summarised here, receive their awards at an annual award ceremony to be held during the Spring film preview weekend at the National Film Theatre on Saturday 3 March 2007.

Because the event is earlier this year, the deadline for the receipt of entries has been brought forward to 1 February 2007. Each Society will be receiving an application form in a forthcoming mailing, one copy of which should accompany each submission in as many of the categories as you decide to enter – three categories, three forms! Copies of the application form can be downloaded here.

In 2006, the response was greater than ever before and culminated in an impressive ceremony hosted by our President Derek Malcolm with the prizes being awarded by the renowned film director and BFI Governor Anthony Minghella. This year we are expecting an even larger number of entries allowing the BFFS’s own Oscar® ceremony to be a showcase for the best in community cinema. It is also an opportunity to recognise all the hard work and creativity that goes into making the wonderfully diverse world of film societies and community cinema – to be a part of this celebration, all that is needed are your entries – to be returned to the Sheffield office by 1 February.
