BFFS West Midlands development
BFFS and Screen WM held a free networking day for all involved with community cinema provision on 9th June in Solihull. The facilitated event was attended by just under 20 delegates and brought together established film societies and volunteer-run community cinemas, potential new start-ups, venues, local authority organisers and equipment suppliers. Main topics of discussion were: film licensing eg commercial v non-commercial, certification, making the most of membership, funding opportunities in the West Midlands, partnership between venues and film societies, equipment needs and availability, audience development, the value of social events, the importance of viewing opportunities to programmers, and other current issues and hot topics in the non-theatrical arena. As a result of the meeting a virtual network of interested organisations and individuals has been set up to continue the exchange of news and ideas. To get involved with the new W Midlands Network please contact Ros Hill on 0114 2210314 or email info@bffs.org.uk. |
